Are you looking for a fun activity to spend with your family in Barcelona? Enjoy a day at the zoo! The Barcelona zoo is nested in the beautiful Parc de la Ciutadella, the biggest city park, and offers to anyone who loves animals and Nature a unique cultural and recreational experience. The zoo of Barcelona is home to 4.000 animals from over 400 species, including the descendants of the world famous albino gorilla Snowflake. Take your kids to watch close the fantastic hippoes, the funny macaques, the mighty Iberian wolf or the beautiful Saharian gazelles. In the zoo you will also find many species of fascinating reptiles, like the Galapagos turtles, the Komodo dragon, the Cuban boa or the reticulate Gila monster among others. And not to forget the birds, like the graceful American flamingoes, the spectacular Senegal turacos or the classic “pirate” scarlet macaws that everybody loves.

A must-see in the Barcelona zoo is the Dolphinarium (the dolphins exhibit), one of the most valued and beloved experience at all ages. Make sure you visit at the right schedule, though, which is every day from 11:00am to 3:30pm.

And for the little ones it might be super fun to have a nice face-painting session to look just like their favorite animals. The  sessions are available every weekend, public holiday and school holiday and are performed in a dedicated area in front of the prairie dogs enclosure.

Your visit to the Barcelona zoo will also support a very important task too: the protection of species that are at threat of extintion and the connected scientific research projects to preserve biodiversity.

So if you are looking for what to do in Barcelona with kids, consider the zoo as a top option!
